St. Anthony Music Ministry
Music is an essential element in the life of St. Anthony’s Parish. Because of this, we want to encourage participation from all people who feel called to give of their time and talents in the effort to enrich the worship experience at Masses and prayer services throughout the year. Vocalists and skilled instrumentalists comprise this ministry. Regular attendance at parish liturgies and rehearsals are crucial for each music minister’s tasks and a required commitment for all musicians.
If you have any questions about the music ministry, we encourage you to reach out to Jeremy Dixon, Director of Music.
The parish choir is the primary vocal ensemble at St. Anthony of Padua and performs weekly at the 11:00 a.m. Sunday Mass (September through June), as well as special celebrations throughout the year. We invite all adult and teenage parishioners to participate; no previous experience is necessary. As a choir, we embrace a wide range of musical styles from chant to contemporary. Join us for our rehearsals on Wednesday evenings at 7:00 p.m.
Our cantors lead the congregation in hymns and responses during weekend Masses and sometimes sing at funerals and weddings as well. We couldn’t get by without the beautiful contribution of these faithful singers!
If you would like to join the cantor pool, please contact Jeremy Dixon to get more information and set up a meeting and informal audition.
Family Mass Choir
The Family Mass Choir sings weekly at the 5:00 p.m. Sunday Mass. The instrumentation of this choir is piano and guitars. We embrace the Traditional Hymns, but also take selections from the Contemporary Catholic and Christian Composers of today. Rehearsals are on alternating Sunday and Tuesday evenings at 7:00 p.m.
St. Anthony YOUth Choir
For special occasions, we will invite children in grades 3–8 to sing in our St. Anthony YOUth Choir. Watch our News page or contact Jeremy Dixon for details about the next opportunity to participate in this children’s choir.
